2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS makes L.A. Auto Show Debut
Mercedes-Benz is such a forward-thinking company that they already have their sights set on the new CLS for 2019. That’s right, 2018 is so last season! It’s understandable that Mercedes-Benz wouldn’t waste any time in debuting at least a few details to the public. After all, they’re used to starting the trends as opposed to following them. See what this icon has up its sleeve for fall 2018, when this beauty finally comes to a dealership near you.
The Intelligence
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS may not be able to fully drive itself, but it’s certainly edging in that direction. There are a number of optional Driver Assistance features on the CLS, so the CLS driver can enjoy the same features on that of the S-Class. Drivers can configure their CLS to help them steer as well as keep a safe distance from other drivers on the road. The CLS can adjust the speed of the vehicle based on the route the driver takes, as well as stop itself in the event of an emergency. Drivers can also customize their CLS however they’d like with the help of the ENERGIZING comfort control. Far from just climate zones in the car, comfort control combines scents, sounds, and textures to perfectly cater to the driver’s tastes. Massage features and advanced ambiance makes this car a joy to drive.
The Latest and Greatest
The CLS is a four-door coupe with a 3L inline-6 engine that packs 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque — that’s before the EQ Boost. The EQ Boost is an additional feature on the CLS. The integrated starter-generator is designed to give the driver the extra strength and speed they need in short bursts, with a fuel efficiency you would normally only see in a hybrid car. The EQ Boost is designed to give the combustion engine a helping hand, which allows the car to coast even when under duress. Drivers get an extra 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque every time the EQ boost is used without having to burn through their tank. The 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic can go up to 130 miles an hour for some serious thrill on the driver’s course. Buyers can choose from either rear- or all-wheel drive, but the pricing information is not yet available.
The Design
Mercedes-Benz doesn’t need to prove itself on the road with anything other than the power under the hood and the obvious elegance in the cabin. This new version has had many of its flashier elements toned down a tad for a simplified design, and the subtlety only enhances its luxury. It looks both serious and sophisticated on the road, even though it’s built to give the driver a truly exhilarating experience. The new design on the headlamps and taillamps give pedestrians and fellow drivers a glimpse into the future of cars. These sporty upgrades give the visual clues drivers need to brace themselves for more power, more torque, and more fun.
